Literature Text

Fill me.

Feed me with your fraudulence
and enticing scents.

Let me dine greedily,
hungrily,
on your untruths;
butter my toast with your lies
while spoon-fed bites of fact
are spat out on the floor.
Indulge me with your honeyed whispers;
let me savor the dulcet taste of deceit.
Wash it down with sweet semblances of truth.

Bind me
in your sumptuous web.
Truss me in the yarn you've knit,
in this room so dimly lit,
shielding me from illumination.

Let me tangle my fevered limbs
in your silken sheets.
Hypnotize me
with fervent falsities and
forged fantasies;
eager to accept the erroneous
for the erotic.

Captivate me with counterfeit.
Coddle me with lies.

Who wants truth
when tears won't dry?
Why do we gorge on garish lies?
Because truths can terrify, and deceit is wrapped in sweet honey.

Excellently cut up piece, with internal rhymes to keep the time of the piece and meter flowing quickly to its significant and questionable end. There's a moral to it, from the edges of accepted society, and the artist has taken a stand with the knowledge of both sides of this relative picket fence. The desire to be lied to is felt very strongly in this piece, with all of its ins and outs; its frayed ends guest-starring in wonderfully woven scenery.

Mild technical hangups, which should take not much of an edit to fix and then the emotional strength of the poem will be matched by its technical impact. The feeling of the poem itself is quite original, since the stance is not one that is often seen in literature of this kind. Overall a great poem.
